SONG OF THE DAY

MØ – Waste of Time

THE DOCUMENTATION PORTION OF OUR WESTERN RECREATION SURVEY HAS BEEN COMPLETED. (AT LEAST FOR NOW.) NOW WE ARE DIGESTING AND RUMINATING AND PROCESSING. NEXT WE PUBLISH.

Over the course 22 days, 8 states, 21 geocaches and 7876 miles, we shot 226 rolls of 220 medium format film. That's 4,520 individual images. In an effort to generate & maintain enthusiasm, garner support and make transparent our process we have, as you know, published nearly-daily Field Briefs detailing to a small degree the nature and shape of our trajectory through the American West—that is now finished. It's clear to us, as you might imagine, that we did something, but what (exactly) we did and what we're going to do with what we did is not as clear. What is clear is this, we're going to publish at least these things:

  1. Bonneville Salt Flats Test and Tune
  2. The California State Fair
  3. Brawley, California
  4. Old Sherwin Grade Road
  5. A PRINTED & FOR SALE, permanent, tangible, voluminous, wide-sweeping, studied and comprehensive record of Western Recreation.

Once again we'd like to thanks or our sponsors and underwriters Yakima Racks and Poler Stuff without whom this project would not have been possible.

GEOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION OF AREA

Drive to the end of N Pebble Beach Dr, towards the lighthouse caretaker's house. Look for the user trail from the parking lot that leads towards the beach (frequented by surfers). As the main trail begins to descend, splitting the two bluffs, turn right to climb the spur trail that summits the bluff. At the top, the trail will dip down and turn into a wide swath of sand. Where the trail quickly narrows again, dig for Geopackage #12.
